Winter months see the ski fields of Turoa and Whakapapa come alive while in summer there are a vast amount mountain bike tracks and the likes of the Tongariro crossing for tramping. Ohakune is also the starting point of the Mountains to Sea cycle trail. On this phenomenal journey you’ll be treated to views of the mountains, remarkable native forest, before navigating your way along the exceptional Whanganui River.
